Free Honorary Georgia Driver's License for Spouses

A Georgia-resident spouse of an eligible Veteran whose disabilities prevent driving, or an unremarried surviving spouse of an eligible deceased Veteran, may qualify for a free honorary driver’s license. A GDVS field office verifies eligibility and issues DS-516; bring that certificate and the required identity/residency documents to DDS, where vision and licensing requirements still apply.

Catalog recordExplore requirements

An agency must make the actual eligibility decision.

The program is source-verified, but its eligibility rules are not automated in this record.

How to read this record

This is a conditional spouse or survivor pathway, not a license for every Veteran’s spouse. GDVS certification does not replace DDS vision and licensing requirements.
