Georgia HERO (Helping Educate Reservists and their Offspring) Scholarship
Georgia HERO provides education assistance to qualifying Georgia National Guard and U.S. Reserve members with specified overseas combat-zone service and eligible children or spouses. The spouse route requires the member’s combat-related death or 100% disability; children have additional age and birth-date rules. Georgia residency, eligible college enrollment and general student-aid rules apply. Awards may reach $2,000 per academic year and $8,000 total, prorated for part-time enrollment and subject to funding and category limits. The initial application is due within two years of gaining eligibility; renew annually.
An agency must make the actual eligibility decision.
The program is source-verified, but its eligibility rules are not automated in this record.
How to read this record
HERO has category-specific service-member, child, and spouse pathways. It is not a blanket tuition waiver or a benefit for every military family. Confirm your category, initial application timing, renewal, and available funding with GSFC.
