Georgia State Taxes on Military Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP), Reserve Component Survivor Benefit Plan (RCSBP), and Retired Serviceman’s Family Protection Plan (RSFPP) Annuities

Georgia DOR’s current income-tax instructions allow subtraction of income received by a surviving family member based on the deceased Veteran’s service record, regardless of the survivor’s age. This replaces the older age-based retirement-exclusion treatment shown here for military survivor annuities. Apply the appropriate Form 500 adjustment to federally taxable qualifying income; do not subtract income twice. Confirm the payment type and applicable tax-year instructions with DOR.
