Idaho Retirement Benefits Deduction for Military Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP), Reserve Component Survivor Benefit Plan (RCSBP), and Retired Serviceman’s Family Protection Plan (RSFPP) Annuities
An unremarried surviving spouse receiving qualifying U.S. military retirement survivor benefits may qualify for Idaho’s limited retirement-benefits deduction. Current law permits the military route when the recipient is classified as disabled, is at least 62 by year end, or has sufficient employment income during the year to require a federal return. The deduction is limited to qualifying taxable benefits and the annual statutory cap, reduced by applicable Social Security and Railroad Retirement benefits. It is not an automatic full exemption for every survivor annuity.
An agency must make the actual eligibility decision.
The program is source-verified, but its eligibility rules are not automated in this record.
