Illinois Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Even Exchange and Military Skills Test Waiver
Illinois’s military CDL waiver programs serve qualified active service members and Veterans discharged within the published 12-month window who are obtaining their first CDL, not upgrading an existing CDL. The Even Exchange option can waive knowledge and skills testing for qualifying military occupations and experience; the Skills Waiver option waives skills testing only. The applicant and commanding officer must complete the appropriate application for CDL Division approval, and normal fees and other licensing requirements remain. Ask the CDL Division whether any temporary federal extension applies to your circumstances; Illinois’s page does not establish adoption of that option.
An agency must make the actual eligibility decision.
The program is source-verified, but its eligibility rules are not automated in this record.
