Verification method: military id in person

1. Review American’s current military benefits page before travel.
2. Present valid active-duty military ID at airport check-in.
3. For travel on orders, present military identification and a copy of the orders at check-in.

Exclusions and limits

• Active-duty status or qualifying military-dependent travel on orders required
• Weight, size, route, and aircraft limits apply
• Free bags apply only to American-marketed and American-operated itineraries, not partner-operated codeshares
• Dependent allowances require qualifying orders and a Military Dependent ID; American’s qualifying-status and identification rules apply

Household rules

• Dependents traveling on orders may receive the orders allowance with their Military Dependent ID and a copy of active orders.

Use limits

• Official orders: up to 5 bags at up to 100 lb and 115 linear inches each
• Personal travel: up to 3 bags at up to 50 lb and 62 linear inches each
